thegentlemaninthetophat asked: I've come out in the last year as a transguy/genderqueer individual. My ex-boyfriend lives with my mother while I don't anymore. I came out quite a while after our relationship ended. I don't feel completely comfortable there because he refers to me as female still, argues against my binding, and my hormones. I know this has to be hard on him since I'm living as a mostly gay...

esenablacaasi asked: Also, I'd just like to say that what you're doing here is a great thing. It gives me hope that such loving and supportive parents exist, and are getting the word out!
esenablacaasi asked: When I came out to my family as a gay female, they weren't exactly comfortable. It's still rarely spoken about, especially since I've been single for awhile. Within the next couple years, I'd like to come out to them as transgender male. I'm just looking for any advice you might have on how to approach this. My parents are religious, conservative, and close-minded....

mattelijah asked: I have heard of PFLAG where I am from. My therapist wanted me to join, but never told me what it was all about. Can you help me with that? Thank you..
Anonymous asked: Hi! I'm an 18 year-old transguy, and my mom agreed to go with me to simultaneous PFLAG groups for parents of trans* kids and for lgbtq youth. I'm really excited, but there is no separate group for trans* kids, and I've had some bad experiences with lgbq kids being less than respectful of my identity, so I'm a little nervous. Also, my mom has taken a while to acknowledge my...
Anonymous asked: How did your kids come out to you? I am currently confused with what gender I like, because I have fallen in love with a man and a woman and I just can't seem to get over my ex-gf, However I don't feel I should label myself as straight, bisexual, or lesbian. I don't like labels. But Idk when or how to tell my parents. I play rugby, and they know a lot of rugby women are gay. And my...
ichbinsleepwalker asked: I just wanted to say how happy I am that there are parents like you don't judge their children and accept them for who they are. I wish that my parents could be half as amazing as you are
Anonymous asked: So for a while I thought I was straight, then I was bisexual, and then I was pansexual and now I'm not even sure what I am anymore. I can't think of a name for my sexual preference but I'm starting to wonder if it even matters. I'm basically attracted to all types of genders, and I'm more concerned with how much I like a person rather than what gender they are. Is there a...
Anonymous asked: I hate being a lesbian. I keep getting called a faggot when I go out in public. My mom doesn't know, and I'm afraid she'll catch on.

And a Little Child Shall Lead Them… A MN...
Wow. Check out this letter written last year by six-year-old Ian Rosenberg-Scholl to Minnesota State Senator Warren Limmer, who introduced the marriage discrimination amendment that’s being put before that state’s voters this November. Ian wrote this letter after he found out that Sen. Limmer wanted to amend the constitution to exclude his moms from legal civil marriage in Minnesota, because he...

Anonymous asked: I'm questioning. I'm almost 18 years old. Shouldn't I know by now? I always thought I was straight, but recently I haven't been sure. Is it just from listening to my bisexual friend talk about girls? Can that even happen?
Anonymous asked: Hello there, I am a lesbian I am also a junior in highschool and it's getting rough out there. People are cruel and I don't have much support at home. Which is not very fun, I mean yes I can talk to my brother but he doesn't live with me so we can never talk anymore. My parents don't agree with my decisions about being my sexual orientation. I try to talk to them about it but...
Anonymous asked: I am working to put together a centralized website of resources for trans* folks. What information would be most useful to include and can you recommend some websites/resources that should be listed?
xainagal asked: Um, hi. Uh, a month ago I came out to my mom and dad, and I'm started to regret it. My dad handled it fine, but my mom has been really uncomfortable to be around ever since. She keeps telling me to "marry a boy" and asking "How can I be sure if I like girls?" I hate it, and wish I had never told her because I want her to stop making all these assumptions about me and...

Anonymous asked: I have just come to terms with my own sexuality as a lesbian and I'm a senior in high school. I told my mom over the summer that I was pansexual, because I just wasn't comfortable with who I was fully yet. I've been dating someone for eight months and I'm pretty positive my mom knows; she knows how my girlfriend and I feel about one another, but I feel so terrified to talk to...

I’ll post this submission as is though there are some things that people might find offensive. It makes room for discussion which is good. And the song does have a positive message.

We are a support group and a family and here for everyone. One of our goals is also to get rid of the stigma that comes with depression and sadness. Anonymous asked: Hello! I was wanting more of an opinion, I was wondering what your take on a daughter who was brought up with a homophobic father, has dated both men and women in her 26yr lifetime and now has a child and is married to the father of the child, and is unhappy, feeling herself being more sexually attracted to women. What advise would you give said daughter?
pocketfuzz asked: You have a BEAUTIFUL family. I got weepy reading your Facebook post--wish there were more people like you. I hope you know how fortunate your family is. :-)
rapturesrevenge asked: Your kids are lucky to have a mom like you. My girlfriend and I are lucky to have mothers who don't care about our orientation and love us for who we are (My mom adores my girlfriend and my girlfriend's mom loves me! It's awesome!). I wish there were more families out there with people like the three of you. Thank you for this blog. Thank you for fighting with us, FOR US. It means...
End the Use of "Ex Gay" Ministries on Minors →

Anonymous asked: I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your contributions as a knowledgeable ally, and as a PFLAG mom. I wish I didn't have to say that your children are lucky to have you, but considering the way many parents of LGBTQIA kids (and even kids who are straight allies) can be, parents like you are a breath of fresh air. Keep up the good fight.

The Trans* Love Week Tranifesto
Trans* Love Week is an attempt to (re)shape and (re)frame the discourse around trans identities from one of negativity to one of pride, positivity, and acceptance. It is a week of celebrating who we are, our experiences, our journeys, and our communities. When I say, “I love being trans*” I mean I am committed to remaining positive about myself and my...

WASHINGTON STATE JOINS EQUALITY →
OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington state lawmakers voted to approve gay marriage Wednesday, setting the stage for the state to become the seventh in the nation to allow same-sex couples to wed.
The action comes a day after a federal appeals court declared California’s ban on gay marriage unconstitutional, saying it was a violation of the civil rights of gay and lesbian couples.

Anonymous asked: Dear Ma'am, I really like your blog. You earned my respect. Anyway, I have a question. I was born as a female. Since I was 4, I acted like a normal boy. I insisted to pray with sarong - (male outfit to pray as a muslim). My parents have a hard time to raise me as a girl. Somehow, I managed to behave like a good daughter in my life time. I couldn't see myself to get married to a man in my...

Battle Scars
In my post from 2/5/12, an Andrea Gibson poem, the original poster from whom I reblogged, wrote this at the end: “…Battle Scars which I found from Seth Thomas, and he has since told me it was not by him, but I can’t remember the author…”
Well it turns out that I know the author and he has brought this to my attention. He is Michael Alexander and here is his poem in full....

sporkthepanda asked: Hi! Let me just start by saying you are the most amazing mother, I have ever come in contact with (sort of...just really reading your tumblr, but still you're fantastic). That being said, I request some advice. Friendship
My very best friend is genderqueer. And i love her more then anything. I believe in equal rights for everyone, and just thinking about the people who judge her for who she is makes me so angry. She see’s the world in a completely honest way, and has taught me to do the same. In her honour, I got a beautiful tattoo. It says equality, with a heart, meaning we are all the same on the inside. We...

I am not a teachable moment! Except that I am. →
Is it better to have a class never know they had a trans* teacher, that the person whom they admired so much…was trans*? Or better just to be stealth and live your life as who you are- not spending each day TEACHING the world about trans* issues? After years of being out and trans, I think it would become a very big issue and one someone could easily tire of.
